When should I bring my child in for their first dental visit?

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, you should take your kids to the dentist by their first birthday or when they get their first tooth. It’s important that they get regular dental checkups every six months from then on to ensure they maintain healthy smiles.

At Sharda Dental Care, we believe your child’s first line of defense is preventive care. A healthy smile starts with developing solid dental habits at an early age. Your child should:
  • Brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes each time
  • Avoid sugary food & drinks
  • Wear a mouthguard when playing sports
  • Visit the dentist twice a year for checkups

We know that emergencies always happen when you least expect them. That’s why we leave room in our schedule to see patients with dental emergencies the same day they call. We don’t want your child to have to wait in pain. You can call our helpline number 24*7.

Baby teeth play a crucial in your child’s oral development. They:
  • Act as a space holder for adult teeth
  • Guide adult teeth into place
  • Help kids chew and break down solid food
  • Contribute to speech development and annunciation of words and many More

It is easier for a child to develop a positive association with the dental office if they are introduced to it earlier than usual. It is extremely important for parents to be well aware of the dental health of their children and keep monitoring the eruption as well as shedding of milk teeth. There have been remarkable improvement in technology and science and therefore it is now possible to prevent cavities and to ensure that your child is cavity free.
